Vanessa J. Sundin
Vanessa J. Sundin currently works Of Counsel with Johnston, Kinney, and Zulaica, LLP. Vanessa received her B.A. in English Literature and German from California State University, Chico. Vanessa received both her J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from Golden Gate University School of Law. Professionally, Vanessa focuses in estate planning, probate and trust administration, elder law, business law, real property law, and tax law. Prior to attending law school, Vanessa earned her Series 7 and worked as a registered sales associate with A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc.
During her law school career, Vanessa was a Merit Scholarship recipient and a member of both the Honors Lawyering Program and the dean’s list. She also received Cali Awards in Writing and Research II, HLP Wills and Trusts Writing Lab, and Real Estate Finance. Vanessa also received the Honorable Mention Award for academic excellence in real estate law.
Vanessa worked as a law clerk with the National Center for Lesbian Rights, as a professor’s assistant teaching real property law, and as a research assistant in constitutional law while in law school. During and after her LL.M. program, Vanessa worked as an associate attorney with DLK Law Group, a predecessor firm to Johnston, Kinney Zulaica, LLP, and then opened her own full-service trusts and estates law firm, Sundin Law Office, in Chico, California. Vanessa recently returned to Johnston, Kinney and Zulaica, LLP after eight years in Chico and also continues to maintain Sundin Law Office in Chico.
Vanessa loves living in Oakland with her husband and two dogs. She is a board member and the secretary for the North Valley Community Foundation and volunteers with the Stonewall Alliance Center of Chico. In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys reading, exercising, cooking, playing outdoors, thrifting, and spending time with friends and family.
